Sunday
This month we have been exploring these 3 spiritual habits: sabbath, fellowship, and prayer. This Sunday we will look at fasting. As believers we must follow the lead of Jesus and allow God to form us through making space for Him in our habits.  

Fasting
Has God shown you anything new about himself or you? What has God done in your life this new year? Are there any new ways in which God has changed you through fasting? 

Upcoming Events:
As we end the month of fasting, we will have a feast meal together this Sunday February 1st. (Weather permitting.)
We will start a new series later this month on the book of Ephesians.

Sunday 
This week we continued learning about the lineage of Jesus. Though Jesus was the only perfect man, his human ancestors were not. We have seen how God uses crooked sticks to make straight lines. The advent season is about waiting. The world was waiting for a savior and got a baby. We are waiting for the return and we will one day see the King, This Christmas we look to The gift of God. We have received all we will ever need in Christ. I hope you all find something to be grateful for this season and focus on the baby that would die for you and I.

This past week we looked at how to hear from God. What is your experience with God like? Are you hearing from him? Do you want to? Do you believe He wants to speak to you? God has spoken, is speaking, and will continue to speak. You are His, and he wants you to know how much you are loved by Him. The love of God is for you.

This week we continue to talk about what it is like to hear from God. Last week Cole walked through the book of Habakkuk and how in a desperate time for the people of Israel Habakkuk elevated God in his own life to His rightful place. The invitation is this: be silent before the LorD, fro He is in His Holy Temple.

Fall festival
Thank you to all who came to participate in our annual fall festival. Fall is a wonderful time of transition for all of us. We celebrate fall together this way every year. Invite someone to be with you next time!

Thanksgiving Outreach is coming up!! We get to feed our community each year during a time of thankfulness for all of us. November 23rd we will invite anyone in to eat with us and give away Thanksgiving meals to those in need of one. 

Sunday
Sunday we heard from Cameron Waterworth on hearing the voice of God. God is speaking through His word. Learning His voice has everything to do with spending quality time in the Word of God. God’s voice is loud to those who are near. This week invite someone to be with you as our youth pastor, Cole Morgan, teaches through other aspects of hearing from God.

Fall Festival
Wednesday night we have our annual fall festival at Temple! There will be games, food, and bounce houses. Invite your friends and family to be with you October 29th at 6pm.

Elijah was on the run from an army of people against God and wanting to kill him. 

This Week
This week we get to hear from Cameron Waterworth as he teaches through his own life and hearing from God. Invite someone to be with you.

In John 14:26 Jesus says the Holy Spirit would help the disciples to recall everything he taught them. God desires to preserve His word. He is speaking through the scriptures to you.

Last week we looked at a few times King David heard from God and obeyed. What has that been like for you in your walk with Jesus? Where are you feeling God leading you as you study the scriptures, sit alone with God in the silence, pray, or meditate? How can we help you in those disciplines? God is still speaking to His people. How can we help you learn to listen?

Are You Hearing From God…

 

What does that strike up in your spirit? Questions, doubt, wonder?

Does God still speak? If so, would He speak to me? Why haven’t I heard from Him lately? What would He say if I were to hear from Him?

All these thoughts and questions may bring anxiety or confusion, but that was never God’s intent. He has invited us into a personal relationship with Him where we can talk to and hear from Him. But many of us are not experiencing and enjoying the fullness of that relationship because we are not sure how to hear from God. During this series we hope to help you learn how to hear from God and what to do once you have heard from Him. Series starts October 5th.

This week we are continuing our series on the family. We heard from Ephesians last week. The implications of living a life as the beloved of God are exponential joy in the life of your family. God has designed us for relationship with Him and others in a way that is incredibly satisfying. Invite someone to be with you

What do you desire?
Psalm 37 talks of God giving us the desires of our heart When we delight in Him. What does your heart desire? We ought to begin to talk with God about what desires are in our heart that He would open us up to change or continue to fulfill those things.

Sabbath
We rest on the Sabbath because God did and told us to. He modeled a rhythm of life for us that is meant to lead us to a satisfying existence in Him. He helped us follow His own design for us. I hope this week you will work very hard, and rest for a day.

Family Night
We have our annual family picnic night August 27th at 6pm! We will be outside on the property eating, playing games, and competing against one another in fun! Don’t miss out on this fall kick-off event for all ages.

Update!
The Morris’s have decided so far to stay in Jonesboro, AR! What this means is that we will have our own missionary here in town building a network of church planters to go out into Jonesboro and behind with the gospel of Jesus. This is an exciting opportunity for our church!  God is moving rich here in our midst.

Last week we discussed the evidence of Jesus as the Christ and the evidence in our lives that He is changing us. I hope that you will not allow the world to deceive you into following after things that will leave you unsatisfied and in misery. Walk as Jesus walked. VBS!
VBS starts this Sunday morning! Invite your kids and grandkids. Those who have completed kindergarten through 6th grade are welcome. We will have childcare for volunteer children below kindergarten. 

Sunday Morning
We are continuing our walk through 1 John in chapter 5 this week. We get caught up in the world and need power to overcome it. God has given all of his children the power to overcome. We are conquerors, over-comers, children of the King. John reminds us over and over what it looks like to be children of God, not because we have things to earn, but because we can have assurance of our salvation.

1 John

In 1 John we learn a lot about what it means to be loved by God, and how that love impacts all of our being. We were meant to be fueled by God, in a similar way, a car was meant to be fueled by gasoline. God is love, therefore, we are fueled by love. True love.

The world
In this world there are many enemies of God. They all would tell you otherwise In one way or another. All of them would attempt to steal inner peace and claim to replace it with external bliss. All lead to destruction. God has made a way for you to walk the narrow way, and it involves surrender, not exasperation, childlike faith not control over your own life. May the peace of God guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Wisdom is calling out. It has been with the Lord since before the beginning. It hates evil and loves righteousness. It is more valuable than any treasure on earth. It is life giving. It begins with the fear of the Lord.
We say we want wisdom and want to know who to ask, or where to find it. But, what are you giving your attention to? What is the subject of your most time consuming thoughts? What noise fills your life? What evil things are your favorites? What righteous things do you dwell on? Wisdom is calling out. Can you hear her?

Who is Next?
No matter how old you are, there is always someone that needs discipleship. We all need more of the wisdom and depth from those who have gone before us. So I ask you, who is next for you? Who would you pour your life into for the sake of obedience to Jesus command to make disciples?

This June9-13 our teens are heading to Student Life camp at the beach. There are so many positive things about this trip. My favorite is the time the youth and adult leaders get to spend together forming lasting friendships as they become disciple makers.

No matter how old you are, there is always someone that needs discipleship. We all need more of the wisdom and depth from those who have gone before us. So I ask you, who is next for you? Who would you pour your life into for the sake of obedience to Jesus command to make disciples?

Easter.
Easter Sunday was incredible! We got to baptize Piper Luster, we saw people give their lives to Jesus, we worshipped together, we used some of our new pre-school space, and we had more people than we have had in years. If you met someone new, or invited someone that showed up, would you reach out and see if they might be desiring more Biblically centered community? Life is demanding. How can you help someone see the necessity of belonging to a local church?

Men’s Ministry 
This Saturday morning at 9am, the men of Temple will be at Tony Bradley’s shop once again. This time we will shoot skeet and eat breakfast together. Invite your friends!

Sunday
This Sunday was incredible! We got to hear from Tré Crume on the tail end of our Disciple Now weekend. Cole and his team organized an event for the teens that incites excitement for the gospel in our church. God historically uses the young to spread His Word across the world. Pray that renewal takes root in the lives of the next generation now.

Easter
Easter week is next week. What can we begin to pray for as God reminds us of His loving sovereignty over all things? Who may God be placing in your path that needs Him? What might God be saying to you in these difficult days? Let us commit to praying for the Holy Spirit to reveal all things around us that are of God and take away the things that are not? When we adjust like this, we can come together on Easter Sunday with glad and thankful hearts as we worship Jesus in all of His glory.

Men’s Ministry
If you are a man 18 and older, you are invited to come and shoot skeet with us!! Bring your own gun if you have it. You can come if you do not have one and we will have one you can use!  I hope you all join us.

This week we will continue our series in 1 John, entitled Testify. Last week we learned how John was teaching the Christians in Asia Minor of their secure faith only through Christ because it had become evident in their lives. He warns against hatred that is not from Jesus. This week we will look at a progression of discipleship and sanctification from the same chapter. Invite someone to be with you this week. 

Spring Break
Next week is spring break and we will not have mid-week services. I hope you all enjoy your time with family next week!
