Weekly Impact 8/5/21

New Series starting this weekend!

I know we all want to invest in things that will improve our lives, so how are you investing in your life when it comes to your relationship with God? Over the next four weeks we will be looking at this passage:
Sow with a view to righteousness,
Reap in accordance with kindness;
Break up your fallow ground,
For it is time to seek the Lord
Until He comes to rain righteousness on you.

Hosea 10:12
As we unpack this verse we will be looking to plant some habits, attitudes, and disciplines in our lives that will lead us closer to God and His righteousness.

Members Meeting Sunday at 5:00.

As we get ready to kick off this fall, we want to look at what our church will be looking to accomplish this year.  If you are not familiar with our organizational calendar, our church year runs from September through August when it comes to our budget, our teams, and our focus.  So, Sunday night we will be sharing about how we want to Impact our community and world through the way we set up our teams and through the proposed budget for this coming church year.  We will also be sharing information and details about the Letter of Intent we have receive from someone interested in buying a portion of our land on Race St.  Please come with a prayerful attitude and a ready mind to hear and to share about the life of the church here at Temple.

Back to school impact.

Supporting our teachers, administrators, school workers, and students. As we have tried to identify needs with the upcoming school year, we realized that some of our efforts in the past have been picked up by other churches and ministries in town.  The backpacks and school supplies seem to be taken care of through stuff-the-bus.  And other things we have helped with in the past are on a needs basis that we hope to help supply as this coming school year gets started.  As we considered all these things, we felt one of the best ways we could help was to encourage and support our members who are in the education field.  If you want to be a part of us impacting this school year, will you consider bringing gift cards for our teachers, admin, and school workers.  Whether that is Walmart, Target, Office Max, or maybe gift cards to Shadrachs, Sonic, or the like; we will be distributing these cards to our school professionals as we try to encourage and help them with another COVID affected school year.  I hope you know, the best thing we can do for each of them is to pray for them and to ask God to use them and protect them this school year.  If you want to help with the gift cards, please bring them one of the next two Sundays, or you can give a monetary gift and we will purchase the gift cards for these professionals. You can drop these gift cards and monetary gifts in the offering boxes at the back of our worship center.

Wednesday nights in August.

We are excited about bringing our Wednesday Nights back to full life.  We have some fun plans for this month as we kick things back off:

August 11 – Family Meal. (6:30 to 7:30) We will be serving Chick-Fil-A and be gathering around round tables as we laugh and share life together.  Blake Thompson will be sharing about how God is working in his life and family and how he sees God working in our church.  And we will spend time praying over our administrators, teachers, school workers, and students as the school year begins. This is a night for the whole family, so do not miss out, bring your kids, and let’s enjoy a meal together.

August 18 – Family Fun Night. (6:30 to 7:30) This is for the whole church family. We will have inflatables, bounce houses, cornhole, volleyball, and other fun to enjoy together as we meet and blow off some steam during this first week of school. We will also have hotdogs and drinks.

August 25 – Fall Family Ministries Begin.  We will kick off our kids’ classes (6:15pm), students will resume (6pm), and we will have different opportunities for adults to connect and grow in their faith (6:30pm).
The following classes will be offered for adults:
1) Study on Revelation (11 weeks in the fall and 11 weeks in the spring).
2) Discipleship 101.
3) Doing Finances God’s Way.
4) Our main Wednesday night study will be focusing on a Tour of Israel as the fall begins.
