Big Sunday Coming Up - February 27th

February 27th is World Mission Day for our Association of churches. And we have two big things coming that day. In our morning services we will be bringing together our tithes and offerings to go to World Missions. That evening we will be gathering together to enjoy food, fellowship, and some fun as we put together care packages for families at ICU waiting rooms, Power of One boxes for Options on Main, care bags for those rescued from Human Trafficking through Hope Found of NEA, and also care bags for birth moms who have chosen to give birth and then give the baby to a waiting family through adoption. There might be a few other things we accomplish that night, but these are the big four.

Here's a breakdown for these two opportunities:
1. World Missions Offering.  Everything that comes in through our giving on this Sunday (unless otherwise noted) will go to help ChangeMakers and missionaries here in the States and around the world. If you are not familiar with the term ChangeMakers, they are local pastors and missionaries in foreign countries who have been trained by our association to reach their country.  Some of these men and women work alongside American missionaries in their country, others have been trained and then sent to start churches, orphanages, schools, in their country.  These men and women, and the work they do, rely on offerings that the churches here in the states bring together to provide for their ministry needs.  (If you want to give toward this now you can through our online giving through the app or website. Please look for the option to give to World Missions Day.)
2. That evening at 5:00 we are inviting everyone to come back together, bring your favorite finger food, listen in on a couple of things we need to decide on as a church, and then work side-by-side as we put together care packages, bags, and boxes for the different ministries that are taking place here in Jonesboro. Here is a list of some things that you can help contribute to the care bags, boxes, packages:
for the care bags for those rescued from human trafficking (boys and girls):
  • journals
  • $5 Walmart gift cards
  • full size bottles of shampoo & conditioner
  • reusable water bottles
for the care bags for birth mom's deciding to give their babies in adoption:
  • small blankets (ex. Walmart for $3.00)
  • travel size toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, body wash
  • gum
for the care packages for families in ICU waiting rooms:
  • quarters (for vending machines
  • peanut butter crackers (or the like)
  • gum

On the 27th we will have fun as we put the outreach supplies together.  Following this night of preparation, you will have an opportunity to help distribute some of the outreach bags to those you may know who have a need. You will not have to deliver them that night, but maybe sometime the following week.

It is going to be a great day as we do our part in fulfilling the great commission:
"Go and make disciples of ALL THE NATIONS (including our own),
baptizing them in The Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
and teach them to observe all that I commanded you;
and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

(Jesus) Matthew 28:19-20

Reading in the Word Together
February - 1 & 2 Corinthians

If you have been reading a chapter a day with us in 1 Corinthians, then you know we have moved on to 2 Corinthians.  In this second book, to the same group of believers, Paul
showed his deep interest in the wellbeing of the church in Corinth.  He expressed his gratitude that his first letter had been so well received and had accomplished what he had hoped to correct in the church. He wrote to them about their giving, and encouraged them to foster hearts that wanted to give to the needs of others because of what God had done for them and how God always supplied their needs. This second letter had many of the same hopes as the first letter. It was written to a church where great dissensions and other evils were taking place; and it was sent to promote a change of heart and action.

We hope to see you this Sunday
at 9:00 and/or 10:30!
